THE EASY WAY OF GRATING CORN
THE NEED
Corn is consumed in many countries and regions in the world. Many recipes require a paste to be made from corn kernels when they are still tender.
THE PROBLEM
Currently there are two methods used to grate corn. The first method requires holding the corn cob with one hand and rubbing it repeatedly against a grater. This process is laborious and often results in finger injuries. For these reasons, this method cannot be done by people who no longer have the dexterity and physical strength to carry out this task.
The second method requires separating the kernels from the cob and grinding the kernels in an electric or manual grain mill. To cut the kernels off the cob, knives or other sharp hand tools must be used. This is a dangerous task, posing a high risk of injury. In addition, as a result of this process, the kernels may be cut too far from the cob, resulting in pieces of kernel being left on the cob, or the kernels may be cut too close to the cob, resulting in an excessive amount of chaff being taken along with the kernels, resulting in a bitter taste and straw-like texture in the cooked products.
Both of these methods are laborious and pose a high risk of injury to the consumer.
CURRENT ALTERNATIVES
There are machines designed to grate corn, but all have considerable disadvantages. In some cases, the corn paste obtained is very coarse with large pieces of kernel and even full kernels mixed with the paste. In other cases, the existing machines are excessively large compared to small kitchen appliances and therefore are not suitable for domestic use. Since the need exists, users recourse to building their own makeshift machines, but they are consistently not safe, posing a high risk of serious injury to the user.
